Free Silai Machine Yojana

In Gujarat, there is no standalone scheme named “Free Silai Machine Yojana”; instead, free sewing machines are distributed under the Manav Garima Yojana and the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. These state and central government initiatives provide a complete business kit (including sewing machines) to help economically weaker sections, women, and traditional artisans become self-employed.

Manav Garima Yojana (Gujarat State Scheme)

The Manav Garima Yojana is run by the Social Justice & Empowerment Department of Gujarat. It provides free toolkits for 28 different businesses, including tailoring.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a permanent resident of Gujarat.
- Applicant age must be between 18 to 60 years.
- Annual family income limit is ₹6,00,000 for Scheduled Castes (SC). There is no income limit for highly backward communities.
- No family member should have taken a benefit under this scheme previously. SJED
How to Apply: Applications must be submitted online through the Gujarat e-Samaj Kalyan Portal.

PM Vishwakarma Yojana (Central Scheme)

This is a central government initiative applicable across Gujarat that directly benefits tailors (Darzi) and other traditional artisans.

Benefits:
- Free skill upgradation training.
- A ₹15,000 toolkit incentive (provided as e-vouchers) to purchase a modern sewing machine and tools.
- Collateral-free business development loans at low interest rates.
How to Apply: Registration can be done online through the official PM Vishwakarma Portal or by visiting your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC).
